During the period from 31 August to 1 September 2023, members of Component 1 of the CRONOS project conducted a routine check and maintenance of temporary seismic stations in the Dalmatia region and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We embarked on our journey on Wednesday, 30 August 2023, from Zagreb. We arrived in the town of Ravno (BiH) in the evening, where we stayed for the next three days. The following day, we visited temporary seismic stations in Ljubinje (BiH), Trebinje (BiH) and the surrounding area of Nevesinje (BiH). Regular maintenance of the installed equipment was performed at the stations in Ljubinje and Trebinje (including new waterproofing and cleaning of the equipment shaft), along with the secure backup of all data. At the location of the temporary seismic station near Nevesinje, permanent damage to some of the equipment occurred due to lightning strikes or water ingress into the facility (melted electrical installations and communication unit cables). Due to the inability to repair the damaged equipment, the entire setup was removed from the location.

On Friday, 1 September 2023, at 9 AM, we crossed the border at GP Čepikuće and continued towards the ferry port in Prapratno, from where we took a ferry to the island of Mljet. On Mljet, we visited the temporary seismic station in the town of Maranovići, where we performed data backups, upgraded the 4G antenna mount, and resolved communication issues between the station and the main server in Zagreb. After completing the work, we returned to our accommodation in Ravno (BiH) in the evening.

On Saturday, when the field work was completed, we returned to Zagreb.
